CM interacts with bureaucrats

IMPHAL| Apr 21

As a necessary step for good governance in the state, Manipur Chief Minister, Nongthongbam Biren Singh called upon civil servants of the state on its 12th National Civil Services observance day for periodic dialogue and interaction with legislators on monthly basis on a fixed day.

The nationwide observance was organised by Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Government of Manipur at Manipur Secretariat Conference Hall today.

Unlike with other previous chief ministers’ in the state, Biren after delivering his address, had a profound interaction with the civil servants in the ranks of IAS, IPS etc and listened to their departmental grievances, views and suggestions.

Addressing the function the CM said that since politicians have come from social grassroots, they know the sentiments and understand the pulses of people, while civil servants know how to execute the Government policies at the best. So co-operation between the two is very much needed to bring good governance in the State, he added.

Biren continued that such interaction and discussion should not be confined only such observance day but directed to hold every month so as to have greater transparency and for smooth functioning of the Government.

The Government would have zero tolerance on any act, which is beyond the framework of the Indian Constitution, he added. He also appealed that the expectations of the people from the new Government should never beblet down.

In his presidential speech, Minister for PWD, Administrative Reforms and Training and IPR Th Biswajit Singh said that the system of check and balance should prevail in a democratic form of Government so that the Government could execute an inclusive policy for the welfare of the society and have a corruption-free State.

Parliamentary Secretary (Transport and Planning) Khasim Vashum, DGP L.M. Khaute, Addl. Chief Secretary (Administrative Reforms) Shambhu Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Labour and Employment) Dr Suhel Akhtar, Addl.
