More decry gang rape of teenage girls

KANGPOKPI | Apr 21

Many more condemnation poured in over the incident of the shocking gang rape of teenage girls on April 14 demanding swift action so as to delivered justice to the victims and a befitting lesson to such criminal in the state.

Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills today registered a strong condemnation over the incident of gang rape of teenage girls on April 14 and the union stated that public safety for women in the state has become a bigger concern due to the drastically increase of atrocities against women in the state.

The union also opined that the support of different organisations of the state is needed and more particularly the women organisations, communities and individuals to help drive change on the issue.

The KWU Sadar Hills also asked the BJP led coalition Government to strengthen implementation of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012 and opined for setting up of special court and child friendly procedures for victims under 18 years of age.

Meanwhile, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation also strongly protested against the gang rape from Kangpokpi district and demanded speedy action against the perpetrators on the part of the concerned authority in delivering justice to the victims and families.

The union further said that every girl and woman should be able to live safely and be protected and conveyed the support and cooperation of their mother to teach a lesson to the perpetrators.

It further said that the womenfolk of Kangpokpi DHQs are ready to render help and support to the civil society organisations of Kangpokpi district and other organisations to fight for the two teenage girls and will support in delivering justice to the victims and families.
