Electricity employees seek public cooperation

IMPHAL, August 3: The Manipur Electricity Employees’ Union distributed leaflets at its Paona International complex main gate on August 1 and at Nambol Bazaar, Oinam Bazaar, Bishnupur Bazaar and Ningthoukhong Bazaar on July 2 as part of awareness on bona fide energy consumption and illegal energy consumption organised by the union led by its president Yumnam Ranapratap.

According to a release of the Union, the leaflets were circulated to appeal to local clubs and voluntary organisations to help in ensuring the effort of the department to provide the necessary energy for consumption to the public.

It has also appealed to its staff members to help in providing necessary information to those in need so as to achieve good relation with the public and to work accordingly. The awareness program will be organised through the month of August at different areas of Manipur, it said.

It is good that if the electricity department of Manipur has really woken up and intend to perform their duty sincerely. Personnel of electricity department is also responsible for unauthorised hookings and non collections of bills. When a genuine consumer wants to clear the monthly bills, he has to visit the department office for many days because the official who is responsible for collecting the bill is not found in the office for days. It is high time senior officers of the department pull up these absentees.
